55th Alpe Adria Championship finished with stormy weather
The first part of the weekend was sunny and warm when the best Croatian riders competed in two scoring races in the 55th International Alpe Adria Championship. 34 drivers from nine clubs participated in six classes.
Zoran Salopek (OTMK Karlovac) on a Honda was the overall winner of both scoring races ahead of veteran Zeljko Tkalčević (1 HMK Zagreb)
On the Sunday due to the bad weather conditions 55th Alpe Adria Championship race had to be interrupted. Start in the class Superstock 1000 class was first delayed for 35 minutes, but the rain and wind did not stop so after one hour of waiting the decision of the jury has been that last 2 races have been canceled.
The first races were driven on the dry track and sunny weather almost all the way to stronger and more competitive classes that followed. In125 sports production class, Matteo Giacomazzi, won the title and Novosel "saved" another place, but won the competition for Croatian Championship. During the heavy rain the race of 2 classes SuperSport and SuperStock 600 was driven. After a series of top performances the holder of absolute record of Grobnik Slovenian Marko Jerman has not even won any position of the podium. At the end he won fourth place with a backlog of 11.181 seconds behind the winner, the Italian Michele Conti. In the class Superstock 600 Slovenian Luka Dečko won a victory in Croatian Championship and third place in the order of AAC championships was achieved by Italian Luca Tommasini, another foreign driver with the Croatian license of MK Križevci.
We were eagerly expecting the start of race in class Superstock 1000 where even three Croatian motorcyclists achieved excellent starting positions in the first line. Aldo Simonović, Loris Valjan and Marko Erceg .
In spite of bad weather their performances on the track expected nearly a thousand fans of motorcycling.
